Freiburg Logistics

Monday, July 6, felt like 'Amazing Race Freiburg' as Peter and I scurried around the city setting up bank accounts, accommodations for the rest of our stay, meeting my new colleagues at the University, as well as getting Peter’s bike GPS working with the Europe map. I sat in on an hour long faculty meeting at the department which proved how far I need to go with my German lessons (not yet started). On the other hand I am thoroughly enjoying piecing together German and French everyday phrases as we work our way through restaurants, shops and casual conversation.

Perhaps most exciting is that Peter and I have serendipitously happened into a beautiful flat in Stuhlingen, a neighborhood 10 minutes walk from my office for Oct-May. It is a flat that is spacious, bright and has been in the Geography (department) family for a number of years. It became available a few days ago, just for us! This means we will have a land line starting October. Until then, you can reach us, in case of emergency only, on my Guelph cell number.

So that rounds out the business side of things and now, back to the holiday…

Tschuss (informally means “Cheers” in German).

Alice (and Peter)
